Cape Town International Airport is located 22km (15.5 miles) east of Cape Town. Cape Town is the second largest city in South Africa and is the capital of the Western Cape Province, as well as being the legislative capital of South Africa (the Houses of Parliament are here). It is located in the south-west corner of the country near the Cape of Good Hope, and is the most southern city in Africa. One of the busiest airports in Africa, Cape Town International is the second busiest airport in South Africa after O.R. Tambo in Johannesburg. Public transport road: 
Bus: My Citi Bus links the city centre (Civic Centre on Herzog Boulevard) with Cape Town International Airport (journey time: around 30 minutes; fare: R61.50).
Taxi: Taxis are available from Cape Town International Airport to the city centre (journey time: 20 minutes, fare: around R250) from the Transport Plaza. Touch-Down Taxis is the authorised airport taxi company and travellers are advised to use this provider instead of unauthorised taxis.

Terminal facilities:
Money: 
Bureaux de change and ATMs are available in both terminals. There is a full-service bank in the international departures area.

Communication: 
A post office is located next to the domestic arrivals area. Wireless internet access is offered throughout the terminal buildings for a fee. Public telephones and mobile phone hire can be found in both terminals.

Food: 

Options for eating and drinking are located throughout Cape Town International Airport. These include full-service restaurants, fast food outlets, bars and cafés.

Shopping: 
Duty-free shopping is situated in the International Terminal, both pre- and post-security. Other retailers include a pharmacy, clothing outlets, bookshops, and gift shops selling local souvenirs. A VAT refund service is provided in International Departures.

Luggage: 
Baggage storage facilities are available in the Parkade 2 car park. A porter service is available; porters, who are dressed in black and orange, are self-employed and rely on tips for their income. All lost and found articles are taken to the police station; ask at the information desk for more details.

Other: 
There is a medical clinic in the Southern Office Block near the Domestic Terminal. Baby-changing facilities can be found in all ladies' toilets in the terminals.

Airport facilities:
Conference and business: 

The Airport Conference Centre is located in the Southern Office Block near the Domestic Terminal, and offers venues for meetings and conferences. The airport also offers fully equipped offices with a secretarial service for short and long-term hire.
Executive lounges can be found in the departures areas of both terminals: the Premier Lounge is available to all passengers for a fee in the Domestic Terminal and International Terminal , while the VIP Lounge can be found in Domestic Departures. British Airways and South African Airways lounges are present in both terminals.

Disabled facilities: 
Cape Town International Airport is fully accessible for disabled travellers, with lifts, ramps and adapted toilets. Wheelchairs can be supplied if required: passengers are advised to inform their airline of such needs in advance. Dedicated parking facilities are also available for disabled travellers in the multistorey car park.

Car parking: Parkade 1 (to the north of the terminals) contains 4,050 parking spaces and Parkade 2 (to the south) contains 1,749 parking spaces. Covered car parking is located either side of the car rental area; this can be reached via the pedestrian subway.
Shuttles are available to transport passengers to the relevant terminals from the car parks. For more information on parking. Valet parking and lock-up garages are offered by Katanga Executive Parking Services. These facilities must be booked in advance. Free parking for up to 30 minutes is available for drivers collecting arriving passengers.

Car rental: 
Car hire companies at Cape Town International Airport include: Avis, Budget, Capital, Dollar, Europcar, Hertz, First, Sixt, Tempest, Thrifty and Woodford. Car hire desks are located in front of the Transport Plaza and central area between the terminals.

Hotels
There is one on-site hotel at Cape Town International Airport. Other accommodation is situated in the central Cape Town area or at various destinations along the coast.
